"Risk of Injury and Infection" at Condemned Dentist in Winscombe

Author: Neil Fearn  Bullet  Dated: 08/09/2014

Dirty and unhygienic practices were occurring at a dental practice in Winscombe that put patients at risk according to the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Unhygienic Practices

It was recently reported by BBC News that the 5,000 NHS patients that were treated at Woodborough Dental Practice were being exposed to insufficiently sterilised equipment, a lack of privacy when it came to their notes and incomplete medical histories.

A partner at the practice is currently under suspension, while poor standards are being addressed, the CQC will return to check that the improvements required have taken place before the practice can reopen. CQC's findings have also been passed onto NHS England and the General Dental Council (GDC) who are entrusted with the safety of patients.

Hygiene in any medical setting is crucial to the correct treatment being administered and reducing the amount of infections that are contracted.

Can I Make a Dental Claim?

Nerve damage to the teeth can cause immense pain and suffering, especially if followed up by a tooth infection and then the loss of that tooth.

Even cosmetic dental treatments can have their risks. Incorrectly fitted veneers, crowns or bridgework can cause lasting pain and difficulty eating for the person who was subject to the poor treatment.

Dental claims are often a specialised area so choosing a solicitor that deals with them on a regular basis is the best chance you have at bringing a successful claim.
